Mexico City (AP) — A lawyer shot and killed a client in a court in northern Mexico on Wednesday, then fled to an adjacent room and committed suicide by shooting into the head.
Prosecutors in northern Sonora initially said the two were both lawyers and were related.
Later, the first victim, 27, was specified to be the nephew of the shooter, 65, and his client.
The state prosecutor’s office attributed the killing to “family legal issues,” saying “the two were clearly controversial.” The court apparently did not have a metal detector installed.
The Mexican family court handles cases such as custody, divorce and dependents.
