Senator Lindsey Graham said that Donald Trump “can kill 50 people on our side, it doesn’t matter.”
Graham’s remarks were captured in an upcoming book by the two journalists due for release later this month.
Trump said in January 2016 that he would “not lose voters” by shooting someone on Fifth Avenue.
Senator Lindsey Graham told reporters that former President Donald Trump could get away with killing Republicans if he wanted to.
Graham told journalists Susan Glasser and Peter Baker, “Trump could kill 50 people on our side, but it doesn’t matter. Independent I got an advance copy of the book.
Graham’s comments are similar to those Trump made years ago during his campaign. At a campaign rally in January 2016, Trump said: shoot someone and run away middle of New York City.
“They say I have the most loyal people. Have you seen it?” Trump told supporters in Sioux Center, Iowa. “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone, and I didn’t lose any voters. It’s unbelievable.”
Years later, his lawyer defended that statement, saying at a court hearing that he wouldn’t be investigated or criminally charged if he actually shot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue. .
At the time, Judge Denny Chin pressured Trump’s attorney, William Consovoy, about the limits of the president’s immunity, referring to Trump’s remarks about shooting someone.
“No way, is that your position?” Chin asked Consovoy insider Sonam Sheth. report.
“That’s right, that’s right,” replied Consovoy.
Glasser and Baker’s book is due out later this month.
