Liz Cheney’s audio shreds claims of Harriet Haigman’s election night phone message

However, Cheney’s campaign later released what it said was a recording of the call. to Politicoshredded Hageman’s suggestion that Cheney was the loser.

In that audio, an aide can be heard informing Cheney that the Associated Press has called for Hagemen’s election, followed by Cheney’s words.

“Hello Harriet, this is a call from Liz Cheney. It’s about 8:13 on Tuesday the 16th. I’m calling to acknowledge the election and congratulate you on your victory. Thank you. Bye-bye.”

A spokesperson for Hageman countered by releasing a video of Hageman listening to a message for two seconds to Politico, followed by what appeared to be a choppy sound.

Cheney told Politico that he tried to call Hageman several times before leaving a message because Cheney was about to take the stage at his own election night event.

The three-term Cheney’s defeat was a fait accompli after she voted to impeach Trump for inciting a Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Even if defeated, she vowed to keep working to ensure Trump was “nowhere in the Oval Office.”
