Canadian dollar rises on rising oil prices
The Canadian dollar rose against the US currency on Thursday as commodity prices rose and investors considered the UK prime minister’s resignation. The price of oil, one of Canada’s major exports, has risen in response to tight supplies and news that China is considering shortening the quarantine period for inbound visitors. US oil prices rose 2.3% to $87.50 a barrel, while the safe-haven US dollar delivered recent gains against a basket of major currencies including the pound.
