Magnitude 7.2 earthquake near Vanuatu, no tsunami warning

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred on Saturday near Vanuatu Island in the South Pacific.

According to the US Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii, no tsunami warning was issued due to the depth of the earthquake.

According to the EMSC, the quake upgraded from a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 was 531 km (329 miles) deep.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the earthquake.
