“I cried for 30 minutes when the door closed. We had it all the way through eight years, so it was a straight, uncontrollable sob.” Joint Base Andrews.
Obama also spoke about having to attend the inauguration of then-president-elect Trump.
“There were tears, there were those emotions. But when you sat on that stage and saw the opposite of what we exhibited, there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage.” Obama said, “It didn’t reflect the wider meaning of America.”
“And a lot of people took pictures of me and said, ‘Were you in a bad mood?’ No, I wasn’t! We had to get it together,” Obama added.
