Staying in separate cabins gave our family more space and privacy during our 7 day trip.
I was looking for a vacation in November and booked a 7 day cruise on Carnival Legends for my family of 5.
In past vacations, we all stayed in the same hotel roomOnce upon a time we all crammed into the same small cruise cabin.
This time, for more space and privacy, we booked two 185-square-foot staterooms on the Riviera Deck of Carnival Legends.
My husband and I stayed in a windowless cabin with a king size bed.
The king was actually two twin beds pushed together.
We each had a bedside table with a reading light.
If one of us wanted to stay up a little later, we turned off the main light and turned on the lamp.
My 3 children (ages 14, 11 and 8) shared an ocean view stateroom across the hall.
My kids were in their own room as no connecting room was available.
The kids room had two twin beds and a sofa that converts into a third bed.
It was enough space for 3 people.
The children’s picture window provided lovely natural light.
Our room had no windows and no sunlight. In the future, I will also book ocean view room For adults.
Both cabins had the same bathroom.
Inside the bathroom, there were plenty of storage shelves for toiletries.
Cruise employees cleaned our bathrooms daily and replenished our towels.
Many hotels we checked have stopped offering daily cleaning since the coronavirus pandemic began, but at Carnival Legend we enjoyed clean bathrooms and clean towels every day.
The shower had shampoo and gel dispensers.
The bathroom also had a retractable clothesline for drying wet bathing suits.
Even with 3 kids sharing one small bathroom, the floor stayed dry thanks to the well-designed drainage system in the shower.
I was happy to see that the water didn’t cover the entire bathroom floor.
Both room layouts make good use of the 185 square feet of space.
easy to store 1 week worth of items Thank you for all the drawers, shelves and hangers.
Two of the closets had hanging rods for dresses and coats and plenty of room for suitcases at the bottom.
My husband and I had no trouble stowing our suitcases and clothes neatly.
Like many cruise cabins, our room had a single outlet next to the desk.
This was a bit annoying as my husband and I had to take turns charging our devices.
The crew confiscated one of our power strips.
stuffed 2 power strips We made sure we didn’t have to take turns using the outlets, but only one person was on board. Unfortunately, the crew confiscated the other.
carnival website Power strips without surge protectors are permitted, but those deemed unsafe by the crew will be removed and returned to their owners on the final day of the cruise before disembarkation.
However, the kids had no problem bringing power strips into the cabin.
The TV screen was too small and made my eyes tired at the end of the trip.
If you’re not a movie-goer, a TV screen that’s too small isn’t a big deal.
but my family likes chill out at the showand by the weekend, the small screen was straining my eyes.
Inside the table was a mini-fridge big enough for two bottles of wine and a few snacks.
One downside was that it wasn’t cold enough to keep our drinks cold.
Our room had a thermostat, but I don’t think it worked very well.
The room had a thermostat with a moving dial, but turning it didn’t seem to affect the temperature.
Our cabin was too cold and the kids area too warm.
We were on a Thanksgiving cruise and decorated our stateroom doors for Christmas.
A small copper box was a mailbox for the crew to drop off excursion tickets and other information leaflets.
We will stick to booking two separate rooms for future family trips.
Our cabin was small but had lots of storage options that made it feel more spacious.
The next time you go on a cruise or vacation, consider booking separate rooms for adults and children so everyone has their own hideaway.
