National Emergency Alert Test Set on Wednesday

Across Canada, tests of the National Emergency Warning System are scheduled to take place today.

At 1:55 PM in most locations in Canada and 12:55 PM in Ontario, a test alert message will be sent on televisions, radios, and compatible wireless devices (including mobile phones). You can expect it.

The organization that operates the system says the test simulates emergency alerts, including alert tones.

The message indicates that the alert is a test and does not require action.

Such tests are conducted twice a year, in the third week of May and November.

Canadians do not have the option to opt out of test or live alerts delivered by the National Alert System.
