The Pacific coast of Nicaragua rattled at the beginning of Wednesday with a magnitude 6.7 earthquake.
However, the national disaster prevention agency of the country did not immediately report any damage or death.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake occurred about 36 miles (58 kilometers) southwest of the coastal town of Masachapa, southwest of the capital Managua.
The quake occurred on Wednesday at around 1:42 am local time (UTC 7:42 am).
Vice President Rosario Murillo said the quake was felt along the coast and authorities are monitoring reports of damage.
