El Luso, one of the food and wine Best New Restaurant in 2020, Found a new home on Silver Lake. The best known of Walter Soto’s Grilled Carnea Sada and Julia Silva’s Fresh (and Bespoke) Sonora Flour Tortilla, El Ruso is now open in the trailer of the old Goods Mart Space parking lot at Sunset Boulevard doing. The service runs from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 9 pm. Soto will eventually occupy space in the previous market.
Soto has suspended work at its former El Ruso site on Mirasol Street in Boyle Heights until the completion of a new 30-foot custom food truck under construction. Until then, El Ruso will only serve Silver Lake.

Today starts here Pop-up
Since October last year, Vivian Ku has been whipping Taiwanese breakfast in the form of fantuans wrapped in radish cake and purple sticky rice in her Today Starts Here pop-up in Chinatown. However, Ku, who also owns Silver Lake’s fast-casual Taiwanese restaurant Pine & Crane and Highland Park Joy, has recently closed the pop-up. She wants to incorporate breakfast items into downtown Los Angeles, which is due out later this year.
The couple behind the Pacific Parisaise restaurants Cinque Terre West, Gianbattista “Gianba” Vinzoni and Marlo Vinzoni is expanding. The wine bar is scheduled to open next door in July. The Enoteca 5 occupies an intimate space of 500 square feet and offers 100 different California and Italian wines. The bar also offers charcuterie boards made with salted meats such as Lardo di Colonnata. Italian, French and Spanish cheeses. Pizzets; and other bites.

Jona Friedman, owner of the modern Jewish Deli Friedmans, has launched a new concept as part of the reopening of his restaurant. Greek Manz now occupies the Fried Mans blue and white patio and has a new menu serving Greek dishes such as charcoal-grilled souvlaki and smoked cauliflower with spicy rabune. Guests can combine Greek natural wine and beer bottles, cocktails, ouzo service and meals. Greek orchids are Thursday to Saturday from 5 pm to 10 pm. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
The interior of the restaurant is now the Freedman’s Bar, which focuses on rotating snacks such as cocktails, brisket sandwiches and hot dogs. The space is open Thursday to Saturday from 5 pm until closing.
Friedman’s original restaurant will be back around the Jewish holidays.
