One dead, six injured, shot, police said in downtown Portland, Oregon


One woman was killed and six were injured after being shot early Saturday morning in downtown Portland, Oregon, police said.

According to the Portland Police Department, police responded to calls from several people fired after 2 am on Saturday and found “many” injured. Officers provided medical assistance and closed the street.

Police initially said seven others were injured. Later on Saturday, police said at least six people had non-life-threatening injuries.

“As more information increases, the numbers may change again. Some of the injured may have left the scene on their own without talking to police officers,” police said.

At least four victims were shot in Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington, DC, and in Manchester and New Hampshire from late Friday to early Saturday.

Six people were shot dead in Washington after 11:00 pm on Friday, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant Secretary-General Ashan Benedict said five adults were injured and six years old died.

“Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are directed at the victim’s family and all victims of the shooting tonight,” Benedict said.

Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, DC urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact law enforcement agencies.
