The owner of the popular Jacksonville Beach restaurant is in the hospital and is in serious condition after a tragic swim in the pool on Father’s Day.

Action News Jax spoke with Naphat Bukum, wife of Sarunyu Boonsanong. Lovingly known as “Guy” in the JaxBeach community, he is the owner of Budda Tai Bistro.

She says her husband is unresponsive and receives about 10 days of living support, but she wants everyone to know that she hasn’t given up on her husband.

“I never imagined this would happen to any family because it was Father’s Day,” says Bukum.

She wants her husband to be able to get through after a catastrophic pool accident.

“So it was just a normal Sunday morning. We were going to take him to a burger and ice cream,” says Bukum.

Bukum says her husband and six-year-old son decided to dive into the family pool to cool off on Father’s Day.

She says something unthinkable happened shortly thereafter.

“They jumped and saw him not getting out of the water for some reason, so it felt like something strange had happened,” says Bukum.

Bukum, who is nine months pregnant, says her husband never showed up again and was lying face down in the pool.

She says it’s when she had to dive into action.

“He’s already unconscious, and I know this isn’t a joke, so I managed to get him out and take my son to the help of his neighbor,” says Bukum. ..

Bunkum said he noticed that her husband had a cut on the top of his head.

She believes he hit his head when he jumped into the pool. She immediately called 911.

Since Father’s Day, “Guy” has been unconscious in the Memorial Hospital emergency room.

According to Bakum, MRI shows that her husband has a spinal cord injury and severe brain injury and is currently working on life support.

She says she wants a miracle and hasn’t given up.

“At least to know what we can expect, we need to get him back, at least for him to see and hug the baby,” says Bukum.

Bukum told Action News Jacks that he was expecting a third child in two weeks.
