Robot glues eyelash extensions

Luum, Oakland, California, has created a robot that can apply eyelash extensions to humans. This machine works with professional eyelash artists to speed up the custom eyelash extension process. Eyelash artists clean their lashes and then apply barcoded under-eye and eyelid patches to make them readable by the machine. One robot works to isolate each lash, and the second robot picks the extension, soaks it in glue and puts it on the isolated lashes. The robot’s hands are lightweight and easily come off when touched by the client. It can apply 25 lashes to each eye, and lash artists apply the rest at the end to customize the look. The price hasn’t been finalized yet, but Luum wants robot technology and speed to be set below the average price for eyelash extensions.
