Rescue team returns home after a month of restoration work at the surfside collapse site

Search, rescue, and restoration efforts have officially ended at the site of a partially collapsed building in Surfside, Florida. The catastrophe on June 24 killed at least 97 people. On July 23, members of the Florida First City Search and Rescue Team (FL-TF1) are returning home for applause and hugs from Doral’s loved ones. Members of this specialized team have worked for weeks to reach out to the survivors, inevitably working to recover the bodies. “You have shown the world what a superhero looks like,” said Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County. “Every day, your tenacity, passion, dedication, and never giving up kept the hopes of those families alive.” Credit: Dade Fire Rescue via Miami-Storyful
