Chinese workers killed by bus are part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a $ 65 billion investment plan aimed at connecting western China with the port of Gwadar in southern Pakistan. Was hired in.

Part of Beijing’s large Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC has brought thousands of Chinese workers and engineers to work in Pakistan over the past six years.

It was not clear if China’s national shot on Wednesday was related to the CPEC project.
