Canberra, Australia — Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave confirms that his son Jesslora Zenby died at the age of 31.
Rock band Nick Cave and the frontman of Bad Seeds said in a statement Tuesday, “I can confirm that my son Jessro has died in sorrow.”
“At this point, we appreciate the privacy of our families,” Cave added.
Fashion model, rapper, actor and photographer Lazenby is the son of Cave’s model Beau Lazenby and was born in Melbourne in 1991.
He was the eldest of four children in the cave and all the boys.
One of Cave’s twin sons and his current wife, Susie Cave, died in 2015 by accidentally falling off a cliff near Brighton, England. Arthur Cave was taking the psychedelic drug LSD before he fell at the age of 15.
Jessro Reisenby, who used the name Jessro Cave for his modeling career, was found dead the day after he was released from prison last week.
According to a police statement, Razenby’s body was found at a motel in Melbourne on Friday afternoon.
The coroner determines the cause of his death. According to police, there were no signs that he was a victim of the crime.
According to the Herald Sun newspaper in Melbourne, he was detained shortly after attacking his mother during a quarrel at his home in Melbourne on March 7, injuring her and causing her to bleed.
He pleaded guilty to alleged illegal assault and breach of court orders. He was released from remand prison on Thursday under strict bail conditions, the newspaper said.
Justice of the peace ordered him to be treated for substance abuse and avoid contact with his mother for two years. He returned to court in June and was convicted of assault and theft from a convenience store.
Lazenby was imprisoned in 2018 for assaulting her girlfriend.
His lawyer told the judge last month that his client had been diagnosed with schizophrenia for many years.
Lazenby told the London-based Evening Standard in 2012 that he was seven or eight years old when he first met his famous father. Cave told the British Guardian in 2008 that he always regrets not having contact with his son in early childhood.
“But I have a great relationship with him now,” Cave said. “It was hard at the time, but in the end it was a great result.”
Lazenby is survived by a young half-brother, Luke Cave, also born in 1991. The musician’s second child is only a few days younger than the first child, so Brazilian fashion designer Viviane Carneiro and journalist, then wife in Brazil.
Lazenby has also survived by Arthur’s twin half-brother Earl Cave. The twins were born in 2000.
