Sjostrom regains control and wins 50m Butterfly Gold, Proud wins 50m Freestyle

Budapest — Sweden’s Sarah Sjoström continued to dominate the Women’s 50m Butterfly when she won the gold medal at the FINA World Championships on Friday. Meanwhile, Benjamin Proud of the United Kingdom won the men’s 50m freestyle with perfect performance.

Shoström won the world championship event four times in a row and won the 18th individual medal overall as 28-year-old France’s Melanie Hennick and China’s Zhang Yufei took the lead on the podium.

Proud won the UK’s first gold in the championship, leaning towards a strong finish to win in 21.32 seconds. American Michael Andrew won the silver and French Maxime Grousset came in third.
