North Carolina voters challenge Cawthorn’s candidacy over January 6
A group of voters in North Carolina told state officials Monday that they hoped that US Congressman Madison Corthorn would be disqualified from being a candidate for Congress. Cawthorn’s office immediately condemned the Republican candidacy’s objection filed on behalf of 11 voters to the State Election Commission, which oversees the process of scrutinizing candidates. Voters claim that Corthorn, who officially submitted as a candidate for the 13th district seat last month, cannot run because he did not comply with the US Constitutional amendment ratified shortly after the Civil War.
