Student-led protests have long been an integral part of college life. From the first student-led demonstration in 1507 to the present, young people at universities around the world have understood the power of their voices.
“College students are encouraged to question every assumption every day,” Emerson Sykes, a staff lawyer for ACLU’s speech, privacy and technology projects, told Yahoo News. “And I think in many ways they keep them in mind and drive change around them. We all benefit from that change.”
