Hungary’s Aron Siragi was the first Olympic fencing player to win three saber gold medals after defeating Luigi Samele 15-7 in the men’s final of the Tokyo Olympics.

Szilagyi used his fast reflexes to build a 7 to 1 fast lead and postponed a short comeback from his Italian opponent to conclude the victory.

Szilagyi won gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. His only defeat in the Olympic individual tournament was the third round of 2008.

Samere reached the final after a remarkable victory in the semi-finals. He returned from 12-6 to defeat South Korean Kim Jung-Hwan 15-12.

Kim won the bronze medal by defeating the Sandro Bazaars in Georgia 15-11.
