An Alberta paramedic who unknowingly treated his own daughter after last week’s fatal accident wiped away tears remembering the beautiful girl who fought to the end.

Jayme Erickson was called into a crash in north Calgary and sat with a seriously injured female victim before being rescued from a vehicle and taken to hospital where she died.

By the time she got home later in the day, RCMP officers met Erickson and told her the patient was her 17-year-old daughter, Montana.

Erickson shared his grief with reporters, stating that his daughter succeeded in everything she set out to do, and hopes that her daughter’s name will live on.

Her family’s pain, she says, is being felt among other first responders and across the country.

Erickson says Montana was able to give one last gift. Her organs were donated to save other lives.
