Orlando, Florida (AP) — A 14-year-old boy died in a ride at an amusement park in Orlando, sheriffs said.
Sheriff officials and paramedics answered the phone late Thursday at Icon Park in the city’s tourist district along International Drive. The boy fell from Orlando’s freefall ride, which opened at the end of last year.
According to the sheriff, he was taken to a hospital where he died. Additional details about the teenager and the incident were not announced immediately.
The vehicle is 430 feet (131 meters) high and is claimed by the park as the tallest free-standing drop tower in the world. Website..
According to the website, the vehicle will rise in the air, rotate around the tower, tilt towards the ground, and then carry 30 passengers when it falls freely at speeds of 75 mph (120 km) or more.
