Lily Alcantara should have been able to easily sell tickets for the 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Instead, a friend persuaded her to come to the festival with a group of his friends, and among them was Jerony Alcantara.
“On the first day, he said,” Hey, who are you looking at? You can be my Coachella girlfriend on the weekend, “and the weekend has been 10 years,” Lily said near the festival entrance. I remembered from her group’s tent.
Jerony and Lily enjoyed several sets throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday with performances from Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and the famous Tupac Shakur hologram, and were an immediate hit when off. They went together to five more music festivals that year.
A longtime fan of the music festival, the couple had a special reason to celebrate at Coachella Weekend 1. Lily and Jerony got married in Las Vegas on April 13th. It’s been 10 years since I crossed the pass at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
A couple living in San Diego came to the scene around 3 am Thursday with some friends to secure a frontline location.
Throughout the weekend, their vans were covered with cardboard for people to often write their wishes to the newlyweds, and there was a message from Jerony on the windshield. I met her at her Coachella and married her 10 years later! “
Lily, Jerony and her friends are veterans of Coachella and other music festivals and call their group “CSF” or friends at the campsite. Their veteran status as festival attendees was evident by their setup with ample space for 16 people, plenty of drinks, light meals, and (most importantly) shade.
Given their breakneck week, which went straight from Las Vegas to Indio and won the spot, the couple didn’t even have the opportunity to cut into the wedding cake until Sunday. After that, I headed to the venue on the third day of the festival. Lily said he enjoyed it, even though the lineup wasn’t perfect.
“(The lineup) doesn’t matter,” Lily said. “After all, it’s just about who you are with and the mood.”
And rest assured, the newlyweds will be back for Coachella in the next few years.
