Police said a 14-year-old girl who was recently walking a dog on Charlotte Street was kidnapped and raped.

On Friday, police said they had arrested a 22-year-old serious offender in the case.

The girl was kidnapped near 900 blocks on West Sugar Creek Road on September 15, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police news release.

According to a news release, “after a casual conversation, the suspect physically pushed her into the car and took her to another location for sexual assault.”

The victim was treated at a local hospital and “evidence was gathered,” police said.

Police did not say how they identified Osborne as a suspect.

According to court records, Osborne was put on probation after being convicted of the felony of releasing firearms into the occupied territories. Details of the case were not available on Saturday.
