  • Police have arrested a man in Las Vegas for assaulting two people and injuring six.

  • A man told police he started stabbing a stranger after he thought a group of showgirls had laughed at him.

  • He said he was looking for other groups to sting to “ventilate his anger.”

A man charged with stabbing on the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday, which killed two and injured six, said a police report said a group of women dressed as showgirls were photographed with him. He told police he was beaten for refusing to photograph him. .

Yoni Barrios, 32, was arrested after the attack and told police he had brandished a knife at a stranger because he wanted to “vent his anger”. He also told officials that he wanted responding police to shoot him, according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by an insider.

Officials say Barrios stabbed eight people on the sidewalk outside the Wynn Las Vegas hotel around 11:40 a.m. local time on Thursday. Two of his victims, Brent Allan Hallett, 47, and Maris Marine DiGiovanni, 30, died from their injuries.

Three of the remaining victims were in critical condition as of Thursday night, officials said.

Barrios told officers he had traveled from California to Las Vegas the day before the attack and was planning to stay with a friend in town. informed him that he could not actually stay there, prompting Barrios to pack up and head to the famous Las Vegas Strip.

Barrios said he stopped by Wynn to inquire about job opportunities after going to the mall to inquire about a car back to California. Police reports said he wanted to be sent back to Guatemala, so he asked the hotel janitor to contact his ICE, he told police. According to authorities, Barrios also tried to sell his knife collection while in Wynn.

After leaving the hotel, he told police he ran into a group of women dressed as showgirls on the sidewalk and asked to take a picture with them. He said he had removed one of his knives for the photo.

According to witnesses and other victims interviewed by police, the woman refused to be photographed because it was strangely requested, much to Barrios’ ire. He stabbed one of the women in the chest and began chasing other fleeing showgirls with a knife, he told police.

An unnamed victim interviewed by police said the woman he stabbed in the chest was DiGiovanni, who was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

After attacking Showgirls, Barrios said he began looking for other groups to run and sting in order to “ventilate their anger.”

A surviving victim told police that Barrios stabbed him in the back and said “I’m sorry, man” before walking past.

Barrios was held without bail after his court appearance on Friday and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
