The Attorney General of New York’s office is investigating the death of a man. Burned when he was tasted by the police,according to statement Released on Friday.
The Office of the Attorney has released two videos showing the encounter between Jason Jones, 29, and a police officer at the Catskill Police Station on October 30.
The first video shows Jones and three cops in the lobby of the police station. Jones seems upset and astounding when moving around the room. At some point he takes off his shirt.
The second video shows Jones squirting what looks like a hand sanitizer on his body and head. The cop fires a taser while Jones is out of the frame. Immediately there is a huge flash of light, and Jones reappears in the frame with his upper body and head wrapped in flames. He rolls on the ground with a clear effort to extinguish the flames.
After a few minutes, the medical staff will arrive. The graphic video embedded below is a concern.
Mr Jones died on December 15, the Office of the Attorney’s Office said, and the law requires police to investigate cases where police officers “may have killed a person by act or omission.” Added.
At the time of the incident Times Union Jones stepped into the station, appeared drunk, and was reported to be in conflict with the officer. Chief David Darling told the outlet that Jones crouched down with a hand sanitizer and police officers used a taser to conquer him.
