Austin, Texas (AP) —Three people were shot dead in Austin on Sunday, and the suspect was not detained, emergency responders said.
The Austin-Travis County EMS said it had not received reports of other victims. EMS spokeswoman Captain Crysta Steadman said early Sunday afternoon that it was still a lively scene and no arrests had been made.
She said the first 911 call arrived at 11:44 am and three adults were fatally shot.
Police said on Twitter that they were at the scene of an active shooting and urged nearby residents to evacuate and avoid the area.
Images from the scene showed the large presence of emergency response personnel.
Steadman said he did not know the exact location where the three were killed. She said they corresponded to an area that included a strip mall and several retail stores with large apartments behind it.
