Three Dutch soldiers shot outside Indianapolis hotel


INDIANAPOLIS — Three Dutch soldiers were shot and wounded early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis after what local police believed was a disturbance outside the hotel they were staying in, officials said. said.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. ET in the Indianapolis entertainment district. Indianapolis police said officers found three men with gunshot wounds and took them to an area hospital.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense said one soldier was in critical condition and two others were conscious, while police in Indianapolis said two of the soldiers were in critical condition and a third was in stable condition. .

The three soldiers are members of the Special Forces and were in Indiana for training when the shooting took place in their free time in front of the hotel they were staying at, the ministry said.

Indianapolis police believe that some sort of altercation between the three victims and another person led to the shooting.

The department said it had notified the families of the shooting victims while Indianapolis police continued to investigate the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
