Toyota Motor Corp. considered additional production cuts in March as the semiconductor chip crisis continues, according to Reuters.
The production suspension will affect the production of approximately 14,000 Noah and Voxy minivans.
Recently, Japanese automakers have reduced their domestic production targets by up to 20% in the April-June quarter.
Toyota has considered suspending production on one line of the plant for eight days on weekdays from March 22 to the end of the month.
Toyota had already stopped domestic production at the two plants announced in February.
Toyota also promised to suspend production at its joint venture plant with FAW Group in Changchun, China, due to the resurrection of COVID-19.
Interestingly, it seems to maintain its annual production target of 8.5 million cars.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, supply chain disruptions caused Toyota and other automakers to stop production at their Russian factories.
