A British documentary filmmaker who recently testified in a closed room on the House Selection Committee on January 6th said former President Donald Trump lives in “the land of cloud cuckoos” and his allegations about fraudulent voting are “delusions.” He said he couldn’t admit that it was “target.”
“Donald Trump isn’t a rational player, he’s not,” Alex Holder said in an interview with Yahoo News podcast Skull Daggery. “He can’t talk to him like he can talk to most other people. He’s a person who lives in another reality.”
Holders have been granted exclusive access to Trump and his family for several months before and after the 2020 elections, with the former president, his two eldest sons and eldest daughters talking in interviews and among them 100. I gave him the opportunity to edit the video for more than an hour. When the selection committee on January 6 learned about the project to be aired by Discovery + in the coming months, it was summoned hoping to find a video of Trump talking openly about the events under investigation. Did.
Holder actually believes in his footage and his own interview with Trump, even though there is no evidence to support his claim, the former president actually believes in his claim about fraudulent voting that affects the outcome of the election. It shows that it is. He added that for several days before January 6, 2021, the then president was “absolutely” convinced that violence would occur that day.
“It was very obvious. This was his last hurray,” said Holder. “He had this-obviously he had this-a ridiculous idea that intervening in this ritual process to prove these consequences could somehow prevent President Biden from taking office. was.”
The following is an excerpt from Holder’s interviews with Skullduggery hosts Michael Isikoff, Daniel Klaidman, and Victoria Bassetti.
Ishikov: Please tell me how you got into this in the first place. How did you get access to playing cards?
Owner: I was building this documentary about the Middle East, and I met this individual who introduced me to me [Trump] family. But in the end, [they agreed to participate] I think the important thing here is that they were very confident that they would win the election. In short, arrogance was absolutely remarkable. So they were convinced that it would be a repeat of 2016. All pollsters were wrong — that would be a big surprise. One of the big lines Don Jr. used throughout the campaign was “Let’s make the liberals cry again.”
Ishikov: What was your pitch to Trump?
Owner: So the pitch was that I wanted to understand who they were as people. They were always complaining about the reports they were receiving in the United States They were always complaining about “fake news media” and all of them. Now let’s understand who they are as humans. And I’m especially talking about Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and the President himself, and the interactions they have with each other, and the interactions they have with their father. ..And it’s like a “succession” type atmosphere of a project … but as you know, it’s real life-it’s a real-life succession drama...
Bassetti: Did you see their answers change over time? You started shooting in September 2020 and have been shooting until January 2021. Has their answer changed?
Owner: No, I didn’t. And it was very shocking. What happened just before they left the office — the fact that they gave me no sign that it was registered. Except when Eric heard the story on January 6, he said, “I don’t want to talk.” And he says, “Let’s skip this shit.”
Ishikov: How about playing cards? In a movie clip, he tells you his supporters who came to Washington [on] January 6 was “angry at elections that I thought were fraudulent” and “wise people.”
Owner: You’ve heard the clip 400 times, right? And every time I hear it, it gives me a goose bump, right? I think what he said was really scary. So, after all, he said they thought they were in the Capitol because they thought the elections were stolen, right? But who told them that the elections were stolen?
Clademan: Why is Trump so stubborn about his claim to the election?
Owner: Donald Trump is not a rational player. I mean, he isn’t. He can’t talk to him, just as he can talk to most others. He is a person who lives in another reality. He started lying about elections in 2016. What I saw after my first interview with him at the White House was that he is now a believer in his lies, a delusional person. It’s an incredibly dangerous person because you can’t argue with that person. There is no way anyone can convince Donald Trump that he is wrong. And this is his hallmark throughout his life, and the series falls into this in the sense that he never accepts what he did wrong. He always doubles back. He’s always right, and it’s always because of someone else. That is, he lives in the land of the cuckoo in the clouds. He sits in an interview at Mar-a-Lago and says in front of his portrait his own actual oil painting, painted in a golf costume 25-30 years ago. I mean, I actually asked about it at the end of the interview. I was saying, “Tell me about this picture.” So this is literally the guy who has his picture in his house. So he’s not an ordinary man. So do you know?
