HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) – Two kidnapped children missing in Missouri for nearly a year have been found with their non-custodial mother in a central Florida grocery store.
Christy Gilley was arrested last Wednesday on an out-of-state fugitive warrant. Gilley, 36, remained in prison on Sunday, according to court records.
High Springs police said in a news release that Gilly and her two children were found in a Wyndixie supermarket after performing a routine vehicle tag check that indicated the vehicle’s owner was a fugitive.High Springs, Florida Located approximately 22 miles (35.4 km) northwest of Gainesville.
In Clay County, Missouri, just outside Kansas City, children have been missing since March last year.
The High Springs Police Department said the children have been turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families and will be reunited with their families in Missouri.
A court-appointed attorney in the local public defender’s office in Gilley did not respond to inquiries by email on Sunday.
