Istanbul — Two people went missing after heavy rains and floods in northwestern Turkey.
Interior Minister Suleiman Soil said Tuesday that one of the missing men was an operator of an excavator swept away by the floods in Düzce and the other lived in a village in Kastamonu.
Heavy rains affecting six states flooded rivers and collapsed bridges on Monday. Authorities said they had evacuated the stranded locals and that the residents followed the weather warnings, avoiding potentially fatal disasters.
Floods struck three states in northwestern Turkey last August, killing 82 people.
