The violent Memorial Day weekend worsened late Monday after two people were injured in the shooting and authorities temporarily closed the MacArthur Causeway in both directions late Monday night.

Miami Beach police said they received multiple 911 calls at 11:37 pm and reported shootings on First Street and Ocean Drive near Prime 112 at the steakhouse. Authorities killed two people. “We are interviewing multiple witnesses as part of an ongoing investigation,” police said on Twitter. At around 1:15 am on Tuesday, police announced that they had detained several people.

A video posted on the social media website TikTok showed a police car descending around Prime 112 when multiple gunshots were heard.

“I was almost asleep in my bed, and there was a lot of loud pop pop,” said Marie Fonseca, who lives in an apartment near First Street and Ocean Court. “It’s really smoky. The police sounded a siren within seconds of the shooting.”
