Analyst: The blood in the suspect’s trunk came from a woman in Iowa who was killed

The blood found in the trunk of a farmer’s car was a perfect match for a student at the University of Iowa who was kidnapped and killed during his flight in 2018, a DNA analyst told a jury on Friday. Tara Scott, a criminal in the DNA department of the Iowa Crime Institute, found blood stains on the trunk seal of Chevy Malibu in Christian Bahena Rivera after investigators recovered Molly Tibet’s body. He said he analyzed the cotton sticks he had collected. “The profile I had from Mollie Tibbetts matched the profile from that blood,” Scott testified.
