“Quad” countries agreeing on a secure microchip supply chain-media

Citing the draft joint statement, the Nikkei newspaper announced that it would agree to take steps to build a secure semiconductor supply chain when leaders of the United States, Japan, India and Australia meet in Washington next week. US President Joe Biden will host the first face-to-face summit of leaders of “quad” countries who have sought to support cooperation to oppose China’s growing claims. Nikkei says it will check semiconductor supply capacity and identify vulnerabilities in order to build a strong supply chain, but will not reveal how to obtain documents.
