Two-time Major Champion Simona Halep, Coach Darren Cahill Split

Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep will no longer be coached by Darren Cahill.

Halep announced the split “after working together for 6 years” Via Twitter post On Wednesday, she and Kay Hill said, “We have decided it’s time to end our business relationship.”

Halep won the French Open in 2018, defeating Sloane Stephens in the final, defeating Wimbledon in 2019 and defeating Serena Williams in the final.

Romanians, who turn 30 on Monday, also ranked first. She is 14th this week.

Halep lost in the fourth round of the US Open this month. She was unable to compete in the French Open, Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics after tearing her left calf at the Italian Open in May.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Halep wrote:

Kay Hill replied On Twitter, he wrote, “No, thank Simo for allowing me to ride an incredible ride on your journey with you,” and Halep said, “A great player, but most importantly, great. We call them “people and friends.”
