Uncle Sam does not belong to dormitories or showers

Last This week, Ozark University sued President Biden. We didn’t take it that light, but the radical and one-sided actions of the Biden administration to violate women’s privacy and religious freedom, with little concern for the text of our law, we. I left a choice.

Ozark University, Mention As “Hardwork U” by economist Stephen Moore The Wall Street Journal, Unique among American higher education institutions. At our university, students do not pay tuition fees. Rather, each student works on campus, celebrates religious freedom, and everything is kept to high moral standards. Since its founding in 1906 by early missionaries, the university has provided the opportunity to work for economically disadvantaged students, apparently in exchange for Christian education.

All students participate in work education programs to help cover their education costs. Thanks to the vocational education program and the contributions of donors, Ozark University can operate as a tuition-free Christian university. The university also maintains a classic Christian K-12 school, completing the K-college format that provides students with an integrated Christian learning experience.

But on January 20, 2021, the Byden administration threatened our long-standing Christian beliefs and swiftly could punish religious schools, organizations, and churches for biblical views on marriage and biological sex. And started to take continuous action.

Just three weeks after President Biden’s executive order on Day 1, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a change in rules that would force religious schools to open dormitories, such as dormitory rooms and showers, to members of the opposite sex. did. The Directive argues that the 1974 amendment to the Fair Housing Act requires these changes, but the law does not.

As a result, we were forced to file a proceeding, represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), to protect female students and the excellent Christian education we offer. The proceedings explain that the HUD Directive is inconsistent with the historical judicial interpretation of the Fair Housing Act. “Gender” means that everyone knew at the time, and most people now know what it means. The proceedings also point out that the Biden administration issued the bureaucratic fiat money in violation of a law that first required public opinion.

This policy, promoted by President Biden, forces Ozark University to decide whether to defend its religious freedom from the government’s overkill or to violate our main reason for its existence. Young women should not be forced to share private spaces such as showers and dorm rooms with men, and religious institutions should not be forced to betray their religious beliefs. Government threats include punitive damages and attorneys’ fees, as well as harmful fines that can easily reach six digits. Violations of the Fair Housing Act can even put someone in jail.

Ozark University is a Christian institution. Our vision statement is “to foster a well-educated, hard-working, patriotic, Christlike citizen.” We take the commitment of faith seriously and believe that President Biden’s actions incite a fight with religious institutions by forcing them to oppose their religious beliefs protected by the First Amendment. I am.

Such a serious breach should be shocking. This is America — a country of freedom. Unfortunately, this doesn’t feel or look like freedom.Instead, a small private Christian university in the heart of the United States suddenly faces something similar to George Orwell’s novel. 1984.. The Biden administration advertises this as freedom for all. It’s the exact opposite, and sadly it only divides our great nation further.

Today, this case involves a religious college. Tomorrow could be about another university, school, church, or business. The Constitution protects our freedom by separating power and limiting government powers. When the government goes too far, Ozark University and ADF defend freedom, especially religious freedom. I hope you join us.

The wolf is at the door. Unfortunately, his name is Uncle Sam and he must be stopped.
