Video shows ‘malicious and unprovoked’ attack on woman outside Best Buy, Florida police say

Two Florida shoppers were randomly beaten while standing outside another store, investigators say unprovoked attack The same woman was involved, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on December 29 and one was recorded by a security camera outside a Best Buy in Jensen Beach, the sheriff’s office reported in a January 5 news release. Jensen Beach is located about 115 miles north of Miami.

In the video, the victim was seen standing by his vehicle, the driver of the SUV blocked her, got out and began beating the woman “severely.” Seconds later, the SUV driver returns to his vehicle, picks up what he throws at the victim, and drives off.

The sheriff’s office said, “The victim was seriously injured. “An hour later,[the suspect]attacked a second person in the same manner at a shopping plaza across the street under MSCO jurisdiction.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the attack was targeted and appeared unprovoked.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Karen Gabriel, was arrested on January 4 following an investigation involving the Stuart Police Department and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman who lives in Fort Pierce, about 20 miles away, was “charged with aggravated battery and aggravated battery in a person over the age of 65,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators have not revealed a motive, but it is believed that the two victims did nothing to provoke Gabriel.
