Yankees without Chapman in ALDS; missed workout


NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman has been dropped from the team’s American League Division Series roster after missing Friday’s workout.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that the former All-Star closer was in Miami, not Yankee Stadium, and made no acceptable excuses.

Boone said he was “disappointed” and added that disciplinary action was possible.

the Yankees play cleveland guardians in the Best of Five series starting Tuesday.

Boone said Matt Carpenter is likely to be on the New York roster now that Carpenter has recovered from a broken leg. , Boone said, has not been decided as he is trying to overcome an injured toe.

The Yankees will start Tuesday night with Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortez in Game 2 and Luis Severino in Game 3.

Boone leans into a 3-man rotation against the Guardians in the best of 5 series.
